Coming from Borgosesia, Quarona appears as a surprising plain in the middle of high mountains. Just few kilometers ahead in the direction of Varallo, the peaks soar towards the sky, but here they stay quiet and low, leaving room for humans. Why? Perhaps because centuries ago Quarona was home for the Blessed Panacea, symbol of devotion and charity. Indeed, a lot of sanctuaries of the area are dedicated to her and all worth a visit, as well as the Church of San Giovanni al Monte. Another valid reason is that Quarona gave birth to Pietro Rolandi, a cultured men and a travel’s lover who took part to the Unification of Italy. He bequeathed the community Villa Ronaldi, the current municipal library named after him. Third possibility, is that nature rewarded the effort and strength of local entrepreneurs who redeemed the town from its peasant origins. In the modern era, they made it an renowned industrial center in metallurgy and fabrics - as the colossus Loro Piana company. Even though time has past, today you can still admire the same inspiring horizon from your new home’s balcony.
