In front of Lake Orta and near to Pella and Omegna, Nonio is a small municipality in the province of Verbano-Cusio-Ossola. It looks like a small group of houses and narrow streets on the slope of Monte Cregno, where families have the possibility to hike. Among the tourist attraction there is the San Biagio Vescovo e Martire Church, whose gate is made of precious serpentine direct from the quarry of Oira, now abandoned. The second hamlet of Nonio is Brolo, whose strong identity has made it known as “il paese dei Gatti”. An old legend has become its pride and for this reason now the village is occupied from many kitties, in form of sculpture, ornaments and trompe l’oeils. Having house in Nonio allow to enjoy the lake-and-wood-atmosphere and also to stare at the incredible event of the double sunset: first the sun set behind the mountains and a few minutes later it compares to definitely going down.
